In June 2017, the Institute initiated the establishment of the "China Biochar Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance". In December 2019, the secretariat of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance decided to incorporate the alliance into the framework of the "National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance" as an industrial alliance, and officially changed its name to "National Biochar Science and Technology Innovation Alliance". The alliance is a non-profit technological innovation cooperation organization formed by universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises for joint development, benefit sharing and risk sharing.
The internal organizational structure of the alliance is clear and perfect, and three organizational structures, namely the board of Directors, the Advisory committee and the secretariat, are set up for decision-making, consultation and execution. The first chairman unit was Shenyang Agricultural University; The first chairman is Chen Wenfu, professor of Shenyang Agricultural University and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; The chairman of the first expert Advisory Committee is Luo Xiwen, professor of South China Agricultural University and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; The permanent unit of the Alliance secretariat is Shenyang Agricultural University, and the first secretary general is Professor Meng Jun of Shenyang Agricultural University.
Up to now, the alliance has 114 enterprises and institutions, including 1 chairman unit, 19 vice chairman units, 24 governing units, and 70 member units. Among them, 67 enterprises cover all links of the biochar industry technology chain such as equipment manufacturing, raw material collection and storage, carbonization and pyrolysis, environmental protection, fertilizer processing, and food production.
Since its establishment, the Alliance has held many alliance member meetings and technical discussion activities in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Luoyang, Henan Province, Yuxi, Yunnan Province and other places, built the "Tansuo Future" wechat public account, "Tansuo Store" biochar network e-commerce service platforms, and regularly invited well-known domestic experts and scholars in the field of biochar to conduct scientific and technological reports through the "Tansuo Future Broadcast Room" activity. It has injected vitality into the technological development of biochar industry in China.

The Expert Advisory Committee shall be responsible for the guidance and supervision of various professional and technical advisory activities of the Alliance. The first Expert Advisory Committee of the Alliance is planned to be composed of 16 professors/researchers, including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

In December 2019, according to the research and decision of the secretariat of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, the "China Biochar Industrial Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance" was incorporated into the framework of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance as an industrial alliance, and was renamed the "National Biochar Science and Technology Innovation Alliance" (hereinafter referred to as the "Biochar Alliance"). The National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance is a national cooperation platform for science and technology innovation.
After joining the national platform, the biochar Alliance is conducive to strengthening basic and long-term scientific and technological work, and further improving the support ability of biochar technology for the green development of China's agriculture on a broader platform.
The Biochar Alliance was initiated by Shenyang Agricultural University in June 2017 and currently has 79 members. Since its establishment, the Biochar Alliance has actively promoted the collaboration between scientific research institutes and innovative enterprises, carried out continuous exploration in industrial technology standardization, production process improvement and high-tech product research and development, effectively promoted the deep integration of scientific research institutes and innovative enterprises, and played a positive role in the sustainable development and promotion of the biochar industry.
With the expansion of the influence of the Alliance, in order to better gather various advantageous resources in the biochar industry, achieve complementary advantages among units, in order to achieve the purpose of sharing resources and results, the initiator of the alliance has decided to expand the member units of the alliance at an appropriate time.
